A kitchen renovation is the most common renovation we perform at Artisan Contracting. It’s clearly a room that’s highly valued, by both homeowners and homebuyers!
Perhaps you’re thinking of renovating your kitchen because of outdated cabinetry or insufficient size. Or maybe it’s a layout that has never worked right for you. Creating the perfect new area for you and your family is not only achieved with solid craftsmanship and high-quality materials, but the success of your new kitchen will also depend on good planning.
At Artisan Contracting we have renovation expertise with 30 years of experience, but we also take the time needed to plan your kitchen correctly. We ask questions to discover your current and future needs, your desired lifestyle and your entertaining preferences. In collaboration with you, we plan your perfect kitchen design and layout. Carefully walking our clients through this process encourages everyone to think through the myriad of decisions before we get into the work. This relieves a lot of stress and makes for a very enjoyable kitchen renovation project.
Looking to introduce an island into your kitchen space? If you’re increasing the size of your kitchen, it’s a feature that will instantly add a casual feel and distinctive beauty. Functionally, the island keeps people close at hand, giving guests a place to sit and talk, while keeping your work area open and unobstructed by traffic. It can also function as a work prep area (especially with a small sink included) and a very efficient place to store cooking ware.
For countertops, we often favour Quartz, from Cambria Quartz. Not only is it affordable, but it also has a smooth surface that prevents bacteria growth, which the more porous granite countertops are prone to.
There are many things to consider in a kitchen renovation – from flooring to fixtures, electrical and plumbing. At Artisan Contracting, we will help you through the whole process. It typically takes 12 weeks to complete an entire kitchen renovation. With proper planning, you’ll end up with a kitchen that is smart and beautiful – and the perfect fit for your everyday life and all your entertaining needs. We begin the process by meeting the homeowner and understanding their needs and requirements. We have a professional kitchen designer who brings your vision to life. We then present you with the layout and renovation plan in a design package. This package includes all stages of the process and what materials will be used so you can see your vision on paper before we start any construction work. We will take care of the full construction stage, including ripping out flooring, pantries, entire walls and old cabinetry. We then complete the rough-ins for our electrical and plumbing teams and lay down new flooring. Once the new dry-wall is up the kitchen cabinets are ready to be roughed-in. Our cabinets are custom built using raw Canadian materials and all hardware is supplied by Canadian companies. It takes 5 weeks to build the custom cabinetry. Once the cabinetry is set in place, which takes roughly 2 days to complete, we measure the countertops, and these typical take 2 weeks to come in and be set into place. The backsplash and any additional electrical and plumbing work are completed last and take around 1-2 days to complete.
We also provide our clients with recommendations on appliance purchases to ensure these fit into the layout and design of the plan, as well as the needs and desires of the customer. This includes hood fans, fridges, stoves and microwaves.
We invite you to look through our kitchens photo gallery where you'll see samples of our work and maybe get some inspiration for your own space.
